I think you should take a second look at Gate City's schedule. While Coeburn was playing the Coal Classic Gate City was playing in the Arby's Classic. They also played Shelby Valley, Pulaski, and some of the best teams in VA during their playoff run. Hackney and Tihlee held their own against some very good teams. </div></div>

GC played a pretty tough schedule. What teams on Coeburns schedule were better than the teams on the GC schedule including playoffs? The weakest teams on the GC schedule, other than CMD Battle, were the 3 LPD schools they played. PV, JIB, and Kelly.

Look--no one's gonna argue that Coeburn's basketball team was better than or even as talented as GC's this past year. Keeping that in mind, does that mean that Coeburn needs to schedule the exact same way GC does? That's like saying that St. Paul needs to schedule like PV does in football, playing higher division KY teams and the such...but without the talent level that PV has. That's a pretty high expectation you're putting on them when there's clearly a talent disparity.

When Coeburn made a run into the regions about 2 years ago w/Brian Pate, Tyler Lawson, and when AA was a Freshman--they played Glenvar and 2-3 other teams over towards that way that were pretty damn good basketball schools--that helped them get to where they were, and it also wasn't a major stretch because of the talent that was on that particular team. Last year's Coeburn team--not so much--they were too young and nowhere near deep enough to jump into that kind of thing.

GC played a pretty tough schedule because they were deep enough and talented enough to do so--so that's how Scotty V set them up. Coeburn played the schedule they did last year that wasn't as tough as GC's because they weren't as talented/deep to do what GC did...so Adkins scheduled accordingly. I don't see what the problem is with that, but apparently it became a point of contention somehow...???

I was just answering the neutral comment about Scotty scheduling "some easy teams for their team to walk on compaired to Coeburn" so what is the problem with me answering some off the wall comment with my own? I don't question Adkins' playing ability one iota, he's a great player. Nor do I question Coach Adkins scheduling. But I will answer silly posts that suggest GC schedules weak teams to pad the stats when the facts point otherwise. Scotty felt that PV and JIB would be pretty good and Kelly was invited to a mini tourney at GC. And these 3 were the top 3-4 in the LPD.

When did I say they made a run "in the region tournament". I clearly stated they made a run "into the regions". Those are similar statements that don't mean the same thing at all. Reading comprehension is your friend, J-Rod.

    By all means.

I only request that you don't question the scheduling as shown below:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: GC1</div><div class="ubbcode-body">What teams on Coeburns schedule were better than the teams on the GC schedule including playoffs?</div></div>

...when it's pretty well known that yes--GC has more talent and is deeper than Coeburn. I could understand if Coeburn had the same talent and scheduled cupcakes to pad stats/win-loss records--but that's just not the case.

It all comes down to that AA did what he did against what was put in front of him--and he excelled, as did Tihlee & Hackney against what was put in front of them.

I think one thing we can all agree to is that if you offered Coeburn one of either Tihlee or Hackney--they'd take them in a red hot minute. Same thing for GC if they were offered AA. I think anyone who thinks otherwise on both accounts needs to seek professional help.

Agree 100%. I would foam at the mouth if I thought AA was coming to GC. He and Ti would be the best backcourt combo in A ball. AA is an excellent player and great person IMO.

Go back and re-read, I never said he scheduled easy opponents...The point you missed cause you were so caught up trying to show us how good Great City is (even though a school 1/3 their size from the same county has a state title and they don't, and DB cleaned their clock by 30 some this year), was this, GC team could handle the teams they played easier than Coeburn could the teams they played, looking at the whole season....Coeburn suited up several times knowing they were gonna fall by double digits, no matter what... And AA still put his points and assists on the board....Gate City never suited up knowing they would loose by 20....I never said anybody scheduled it that way, but simply that was the task laid out for Adkins...

As ussual instead of reading the post, you got caught up trying to show me just how great GC is, please read the post next time....I never said a word about Scotty-To-Hottie's scheduling procedures....

Maybe thats why they lost, no team should ever suit up thinking they are gonna lose...

Hey--that's what neutral said he probably thought--not what they necessarily though. His assumption doesn't reflect the actual mindset.
